Utility Billing
Programs
We help our customers conserve electricity and water by providing information on ways to cut back and to avoid any unnecessary usage. We also keep track of weather readings and rainfall so we can detect utility readings that may be too high or too low. Individual conferences can be provided to help you understand your billing and to make suggestions on ways to reduce your consumption. All information is available to you, free of charge, through our Utility Office.
The City would like to introduce Energy Depot for Homes and Water Depot, your new, on-line resources designed to answer energy and water related questions from residential customers. Energy Depot provides an on-line, do-it-yourself home energy audit that addresses a full range of residential systems and appliances. You can choose between a full-blown personalized audit or can opt for the EZ audit that just takes a few minutes to complete, and both are available in Spanish. Water Depot provides online tools you can use to analyze your household’s water use and cost.
If you need help getting into the program or setting up your account, please feel free to call the Utility Office at 512-930-3640.

The Good Neighbor Fund
The Good Neighbor Fund is a fund sponsored by the City of Georgetown and the Caring Place. Contributions can be made to the fund by paying the total due on your utility bill, plus one dollar. The donations are used to assist citizens who occasionally need help in paying their utility bills.
Penalty Waiver Application
A customer who is disabled, or who is 60 years of age or older, may request, in writing, a standing waiver of the late penalty, for utility payments made after the due date. The customer’s disabled status must be verified by an Award Letter from the Social Security Administration. This waiver applies only to the account holder or their spouse.
If you are eligible for this benefit and would like more information on how to make this change to your account, please contact the Utility Office.

Low Income Rate Assistance
A residential low-income discount of 20 percent is available to customers who can provide proof of participation in the Medicaid program by a permanent resident in the household. The discount applies to the water base rate and the wastewater fixed rate only.
Public Open Records Act
You can now request that personal information contained in our utility records not be released to unauthorized persons. The Texas Legislature enacted a bill allowing publicly-owned utilities to give their customers the option of making the customer’s address, telephone number, personal identification, and billing and usage information, confidential. The City must still provide this information to certain individuals or agencies. Contact the Utility Office for more information on the Open Records Act.

Snowbird Program
For our customers that close up their homes and live elsewhere for 3 or more consecutive months out of the year, we have a program that allows the suspension of garbage service and its charges for the time period that you are gone. Garbage service may only be suspended for 6 months out of each calendar year. Participating customers must remember that this suspends garbage and recycling service during this time period, so any housekeeping services or yard services that may be employed during your absence may not use the service.
To download the application, visit our forms section.
The Vacation List
In the event that you are planning a trip that will extend over a due date, you may have your name put on our vacation list. We require advance notice of the dates that you will be gone and will remove any penalties applied during this time. The Vacation List is for absences shorter than a month. Other arrangements must be made for longer absences.
