Stormwater Drainage
The City of Georgetown established a Drainage Utility in 1992 in response to flooding issues experienced within the city limits. Drainage fees are a necessary funding source that allows the City to maintain the curbs and gutters, as well as, clean ditches and retention ponds that keep them free of grass, debris, and mosquitoes. By managing and directing the water into natural waterways or retention ponds, the City helps control the impact of flooding within its boundaries.
The Drainage Ordinance was amended by the Georgetown City Council in January 2012.
